On September 29th, the Feast of Saints and Archangels; Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, the 24th annual Diocesan Blue Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Agnes Church. This special Mass is dedicated to honor and pray for those men and women who have died in the line of duty, or, are currently serving in law enforcement, fire, or emergency medical services - our first responders of Southern New Jersey.
Mrs. Rhea, along with eight of our students from St. Cecilia’s, joined students from other Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Camden to attend the service. Most Reverend Bishop Joseph A Williams, D.D. was the principal celebrant of the Mass, with many of our diocesan clergy present.
During Mass, a bell was rung for those who have died in one of the service professions during the past year. “When you hear the sound of the bell, let it ring gratitude into your hearts for their public service. Let the echo of the bell take you to God, who we believe gives eternal rest. They are not forgotten.”
The men and women in all their uniforms of “blue”, along with the flags they carried, the bag pipes played, the ringing bells, and prayers that were offered, left a lasting impression on each student who was in attendance. It was a beautiful
morning of remembrance, recognition and thanksgiving.
