On December 17th the students of St. Cecilia’s, under the guidance of Mrs. Rhea, presented this year’s Christmas Show, “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. From teachers, to students, to practices, and songs, it all came together for a beautiful performance of the journey through the story of Christmas. Before starting, we were reminded that “Christmas is a season of giving, as we celebrate twelve days filled with blessings, joy, and celebration.”
Christmas is celebrated all over the world in many countries. But, it all started with a visit to Mary, by the Angel Gabriel, giving her the news the God chose her to be the mother of His Son. Joseph was then visited by the Angel who told him that Mary was carrying God’s Child and to name Him, Jesus. We witnessed Mary visit her cousin Elizabeth. Afterwards, Joseph and Mary had to prepare to leave for Bethlehem, so they could be counted. Upon arriving in Bethlehem, they found no room at the inn and were offered a place to stay in a stable. Once settled, the animals welcomed them and could sense a miracle was about to occur. Under a sky filled with stars, Baby Jesus was born that night and the Angel made an appearance to the shepherds to speak of the Good news that Jesus was born. On the twelfth day, the Three Wise Men started their journey to see the Child when the star appeared in the sky.
Each grade sang a special song. Beginning with Third grade: Christmas Everywhere; Sixth grade: Yes; Fifth grade: Song of Joseph; Second grade: Knock, Knock, Knock; Kindergarten: Baby Jesus, We Love You; First grade: Glory. Glory, Glory to God; Fourth grade: Follow the Star; Seventh grade: If I Were There; and Eighth grade: Oh Come All Ye Faithful. Each class sang wonderfully with smiles on their faces.
It was a wonderful interpretation of the story of Jesus’ birth. We thank all of the students who participated in this production. We also thank Mrs. Ward, our second grade teacher, Mr, Ward, and their baby son Nolan. They were our Mary, Joseph, and Jesus tonight. Well done everyone. We would also like to especially thank Mrs. Rhea for all of her hard work in putting the show together.
Afterwards, Sr. Alicia wished everyone a safe holiday, and asked all of our many alumni to comw forward and lead everyone in our regular closing song, Feliz Navidad.
Merry Christmas everyone. And, as Tiny Tim would say: "God bless us, everyone.”
